With their place of
origin being a complete mystery (perhaps a
different planet), 'The Tweezers' hammered and
pounded themselves into existence with a red-hot zeal and
a feverish schedule of gigs across the wild
frontiers of Southern California.
On vocals, keyboard and an
unforgettable front persona of wide-eyed and
otherworldly dance moves, is Dorothy Zink.
Sharing songwriting duties with Dorothy Zink is Bob Brasier
on guitar and vocals. On a thundering bass
guitar is the unrelenting talent of Sir
Timothy Davis and on drums is the punk
powerhouse of pummeling, Mike McKelvey.
This crew recorded the first Tweezers vinyl,
a 4-song, 7" EP titled "You Got Me With Your
Tweezers." Being fortunate and topping the
playlist on college radio station KUCI, with
airplay as well on KROQ and KNAC, the momentum
was building and an opportunity presented
itself, to head into the studio for their second
record titled "Loveable & Fearless,"
a 6 - song 12" EP.
Stepping into 'The
Tweezers' as drummer and the recording of
their second record, is the wildly talented Alan
Sweet, who contributed to the band's
evolution and ever expanding catalog of strange,
enticing and powerful new material. Additional
new elements, both for the recording of 'Loveable
& Fearless' and on stage, is TL
Ary of the 'Nu Beams' with his
scorching sax playing, his striking stage
presence and his overall creative genius. Also
stepping into the fold (and also from the 'Nu
Beams') for occasional live gigs and
subsequent recording for The Tweezers
third record, is the outstanding musical
explorer, Mark Soden on
keyboards and experimental sound machinery. Last
but certainly not least is the amazing ninja
saxophone mania of Steve Barnes,
providing atmospheric and aural excitement in
this later stage interplanetary metamorphosis of
The Tweezers.
